SFP is defined as Small Form-Factor Pluggable. SFP are 1Gig and SFP+ refers to 10G transceivers. SFP transceivers are typically used in network switches, media converters, and AV over fiber systems. SFP transceivers are specific to a format of fiber (multimode or single mode) SFP transceivers when connected to media converters allows ethernet and fiber technologies to communicate. Direct Attach Cables are passive copper cables that are preterminated with SFP or SFP+ transceivers on both ends. SCP SFP/SFP+ transceivers are programmed with CISCO standard EEPROMs and are compatible with most systems.
