What is CPR
CPR
CPR standardizes flammability ratings for permanently installed construction products in the EU.
It includes: power, telecommunications, data, and control cables.
CPR also designates minimum cable performance levels based on different installations, location types, and each EU member national requirements.
Excluded: interconnect cables such as HDMI and patch cords; direct burial cables.
Purpose of CPR
Improves standardization across Europe of materials used in cable construction
Sets higher safety levels for fire and dangerous substances
Provides greater clarity and traceability of the cables used in construction
Removes the fraudulent "knock-off" brands from the market
CPR Simplifies Cable Comparison
Consultants and Project Managers can more easily spec the right cable most suitable for the installation
Cables are now rated by Euroclass
There are 4 Classes that directly apply to low voltage cables: B2ca, Cca, Dca, and Eca
These classes refer to combustible cables in ascending order of fire growth rate and release
CPR Sub-Classifications: Smoke, Droplets, Acidity

EuroClass-Hierarchy
CPR EuroClasses can be substituted - Higher to Lower Only
Highest - B2ca-s1,d1,a1
High - Cca-s1,d1,a1
Medium High - Dca-s1,d1,a1
Medium - Dca-s3,d2,a3
Low - Eca
Example: If a project requires Dca cable, you can substitute B2ca or Cca
All higher rated cables are approved for lower requirements
Euro Class and Cable Pricing
The higher the CPR EuroClass the higher the manufactoring costs.B2ca and Cca also require continuous auditing of the manufacturer
Your cable pricing structure should be based on Euro Class Hierarchy

DOP - Declaration of Performance
DoP is the certificate issued by the manufacturer, referencing the notifying body's Certification of Compliance
Manufacturers have legal obligation to provide written Declaration of Performance (DoP) in accordance with CPR requirements.
All SCP DoP are posted online SCP DoP click here.
What EuroClass cable do I need to use?
Each Country in Europe has different CPR regulations. Please refer to your country specific requirements. The above guide is for visual representation only
Know your Country CPR Requirements
Each member state sets their own CPR requirements
If you are the one making the installation cable decisions. Please learn your country rules.

You have Liability?
Installers are legally required to use the correct CPR rated cable for each installation
SCP Leads the way in CPR Compliance
SCP has the largest selection of CPR compliant cables in Europe for the CEDIA and custom installation markets.
